Well...here's what's on Elizabeth these days.

                      I think I may be a little obsessed, because I tell ya girls....I LOVE to spin.

And last, but not least, Ludie Mae.

Ludie Mae is fairly new and is just being played with right now. She and I have high aspirations of making some lovely art yarn:)

Soon and very soon ladies, I do plan on having a give away. I have been inspired by so many of my friends. I will give away some beautiful handspun yarn.

Shine

One Day

One day I WILL have sheep. I have been all over blogland, finding the most wonderful blogs with darling sheep. Now I know raising sheep would not be all glitz and glamour, and can even be quite scary. A dear friend told me (as she use to raise sheep) that they are some of the only animals just waiting to die. I suppose she was referring to how defenseless they are. That does not deter me though. I WILL have sheep!!!! I am an avid spinner, weaver, knitter and I can't quit thinking about a post I read on www.soulemama.com on sheep to shawl and how that truly has been my vision for so long.
Alas....right now, I do not have sheep, but I can choose to make the best of what I have....SO.....the next best thing for me now is.....to acquire fleece, which I have....skirt it, wash it, comb it, spin it, maybe dye it, and finally, knit or weave it. THAT, I can do right now, and that's what I plan.
Right now, I have been working on weaving a scarf from some beautiful yarn I spun a couple of months ago. I thought it might be fun to see some of the steps that it took to do that. First I bought beautiful wool roving. 100% Merino wool that was hand dyed by Ms. Babs, then I spun it into this beautiful yarn.

I get it ready.

Wind it up.

And break out the loom.

Warp the loom and start weaving.

This promises to be a most beautiful scarf.
But ONE DAY......I WILL have sheep:)

These Days

These crazy E. Tennessee days. The weather has gone totally bonkers!! One day sunny and 70...the next HEAVY rain, temps dropping fast, and the next...highs int he 30's and a chance of snow. It's been this way for 3 months now. CRAZY!! So...on these crazy, never know what it's gonna do days, I am being, yes, just a little obsessed with fiber.

The Scarf that Almost Wasn't

All my friends know by now, that I have a wee little loom. A Schacht Cricket 15 in. rigid heddle table loom. (Thought I'd start off small.) I have made a few cute scarfs by now, but just simple, plain scarfs. I happen to know an awesome 5th generation weaver that turns out some of the most beautiful woven projects you've ever seen.....in all shapes and sizes. And although she can weave anything imaginable, I became a little obsessed by her gorgeous woven scarfs. She has many looms...also of all shapes and sizes, that helps to enable her to weave anything she desires, however, lately, she has had on one of her smaller looms (42 in. floor loom), incredibly beautiful scarfs. After examining them closely, I thought, I should be able to weave a scarf that pretty on my tiny little loom. Simple, but beautiful. So...I set out to see how bold I could get with choosing colors. In my homespun basket, I have lots of beautiful hand spun yarn. Gorgeous I tell you. I pulled some bright colors and just like that, my wee little loom was warped and ready to go. But wait! It didn't look right at all!! Too funky! The colors all screamed at me that they didn't match, and there was no way on earth I could make this choice of colors look fabulous in a scarf. Enter my genius weaving friend. "It's wonderful!!!!!" she said. "Just put on a black weft....soft and fluffy...it will be perfect!" Oh my...I was scared, but I listened, and voila! What a lovely scarf appeared!!

Yes...and there she is all pretty and sassy:) Isn't it funny how our walks on this earth can teach us lessons.....even spiritual ones? Sometimes I feel so insecure in my decision making, then God will send assurance to me and all will be well.....just like that:)

He Could Have Anything He Wanted

Well.....it's true! Yesterday was my sweet hubby's birthday, and as tradition has it, on your birthday in this house, you get to pick what ever you want for your birthday dinner, whether it's dining in or out....so guess what hubby dear requested? You got it....FRIED CHICKEN.

Yummy? YES! Fun to cook? NO!!!!! I DO NOT like frying chicken....it's just too messy and smelly:(

He enjoyed it very much, however. And since it WAS his birthday......I was happy to please him! Now, guess what? Today is MY birthday!!!!! What am I having for dinner you ask??? Well, I haven't decided, but I can tell you it will NOT be fried chicken:)
